The German Association of Women Lawyers e. V. (djb) is a non-profit organization founded in 1948, which is the successor to the German Women Lawyers Association founded in 1914 . He has his office in Berlin in the WeiberWirtschaft .

Tasks and organization

The association wants to promote the “further development of the law in all areas”, advocates equal rights and equality for women in all areas of society and for the legal safeguarding of the living situation of women, children and the elderly, offers further training and conducts scientific events by. He works with similar organizations at international level. Any woman who has studied or studied law or economics, regardless of professional practice, can become a member. The organization lobbies and promotes and networks its members.

The association is a member of the European Movement Network . The association of over 2,800 lawyers and economists , which sees itself as independent, non-partisan and non-denominational , is based in Dortmund , the federal office is in Berlin .

Well-known members were u. a. Marie-Elisabeth Lüders , Wiltraut Rupp-von Brünneck , Elisabeth Selbert , Erna Scheffler and Elisabeth Schwarzhaupt .

From 2011, the judge Ramona Pisal , who is now at the Brandenburg Higher Regional Court , was President of the Federation for three terms. In September 2017, the Dortmund university professor Maria Wersig was elected as her successor.

Marie Elisabeth Lüders Prize

The science award, which is endowed with 3,000 euros and named after Marie-Elisabeth Lüders , is awarded every two years to lawyers and economists who deal with the topics of law, gender and equality between women and men in their scientific work. It was donated by Melitta Büchner-Schöpf .

Female shareholders demand equality

Since 2009, the djb has been carrying out the women shareholders demand equality project with the aim of drawing attention to the underrepresentation of women in top management. By attending the general meetings of listed companies, including all 30 DAX companies , and using shareholders' right to information ( Section 131 AktG), the companies are asked about their goals, strategies and measures to fill management positions. The results of these surveys are qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed and evaluated in studies. These studies have already appeared four times.
