Barbara Mayr

Barbara Theresia Mayr (born February 17, 1968 in Murnau am Staffelsee ) is a German jazz singer .

Career

Mayr initially received singing lessons; an apprenticeship at the New Jazz School in Munich followed; she attended workshops with Sandy Patton and Norbert Gottschalk and a masterclass for jazz and pop choirs at the Federal Academy for Musical Education in Trossingen. She graduated from the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich with a state qualification for music.

Mayr performed with the jazz project On a Clear Day and with Just Friends and founded her own jazz trio. In addition, she toured with the dialect formations Raida-Singers , Raida-Gang and Trio della Comedia and performed with the soul band Soulhouse . In the musical Funkarella she played the role of "Grandma". She also toured with Max Neissendorfer , worked with Larry Porter and did choral work with the Jabulani gospel choir (with which she released two albums), with Gospel 5 and Ladies Talk . Mayr teaches at the New Jazz School in Munich .
