Bardo Gauly

Bardo Maria Gauly (born July 19, 1957 in Karlsruhe ) is a German classical philologist ( Latinist ).

Life

From 1977 to 1984 Gauly studied Classical Philology and Catholic Theology at the Universities of Freiburg and Tübingen . After the state examination, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Tübingen, and from 1986 at the University of Kiel . Here he was in 1990 with a dissertation on Ovid's love poetry doctorate ( love experiences: the role of the elegiac I in Ovid's Amores ). He achieved his habilitation in 2003 with a paper on Senecas Naturales quaestiones . In the 2004/2005 winter semester he held a chair for Classical Philology at the University of Hamburg . In 2007 he accepted a call to a W3 professorship for Classical Philology at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt . Together with Alexander Arweiler he publishes the "Library of Latin Literature of Late Antiquity".
