Hans Jürgen Tschiedel

Hans Jürgen Tschiedel (born April 19, 1941 in Warnsdorf ) is a German classical philologist .

Life

After studying classical philology and German literature in Erlangen and Vienna , he was in Erlangen with the 1969 dissertation Phaedra and Hippolytus doctorate . With the work investigations on Caesar's Anticato and critical new edition of the Bellum Alexandrinum he was able to qualify for his habilitation in Classical Philology in 1976 and in 1976 became a private lecturer at the Erlangen Seminar for Classical Philology. In 1982 he was appointed full professor and professor at the Catholic University of Eichstätt . He accepted and held the position until he was retired on September 30, 2007, but stayed with the university as a professor emeritus until 2009.

From 1985 to 2006 Tschiedel was head of the Classical Philology department in the Görres Society .
