Bardowiek
Bardowiek is a desert on the former inner-German border in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is located in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg about two kilometers from Lübeck's city limits. The transformer house is the only remaining structure.
history
In 1292 the place was first mentioned in the Ratzeburg hoof register with nine hooves . In the Thirty Years' War was largely destroyed, the place was built in 1648 again. In 1817 two busseries were built. Bardowiek had about 40 inhabitants and was in the GDR times within the five kilometers wide border exclusion zone . In 1960 all farms in the Palingen LPG were collectivized. The first courtyards were demolished in 1977 and the last building in 1989. After the fall of the Wall, former residents wanted to rebuild the village. It came with the Selmsdorf community to legal disputes over several instances in which the advocates of development were defeated.
Current
On May 26, 2007 the artist Wanja Tolko inaugurated his installation Grenzraum Bardowiek . This should remain in place for two years. The installation comprised the area of the former Kuhlmann house marked with red and white marker poles, along with an information board.
