history

The name of the village was first mentioned in 1277. The bearer of the name was Johann von Barkow , who was a vassal of Dubislaw von Woedtke , the owner of Plathe . In 1478 the village, then still referred to as a manor , was owned by Otto von der Osten. Shortly afterwards, in 1480, it was owned by the Count von Eberstein. On July 7th, 1600 the manor was sold to Döring von Heydebreck . On November 18, 1698 the manor was lent to members of the Lepel family . Major General Otto Gustav von Lepel sold the estate to Johann August von Koven on February 6, 1710 . He bequeathed the estate to his sons Johann Karl von Koven and Karl Friedrich von Koven. They sold the manor on August 26, 1730 and ceded their feudal rights to Karl Ernst von Strantz on December 7 and 8, 1744 and October 15, 1746 . In the spring of 1836, August Joseph Wilhelm von Strantz , grandson of Karl Ernst von Strantz, sold the manor to Lord von Greese. Hartwig von Bülow acquired the manor in 1850.

In 1883 Oskar von Normann bought the Barckow manor from his father-in-law Hartwig von Bülow. Oskar von Normann bequeathed the manor to his son Hans von Normann , who however died childless in 1918. Thereupon Hans Normann's brother Philipp von Normann inherited the manor, who died in May 1945 of dysentery in the special camp Schwiebus after he was deported there. The relatives of Philipp von Normann received compensation from the federal government .

Until 1945 Barckow belonged to the district of Trieglaff in the district of Greifenberg i. Pom. where the registry office was located. Furthermore, Barckow belonged to the Evangelical Church in Batzwitz .
