Francis Douglas, Viscount Drumlanrig

Francis Archibald Douglas, Viscount Drumlanrig (born February 3, 1867 , † October 19, 1894 ) was a British nobleman from the Scottish noble family Douglas .

He was the eldest son of John Douglas, 9th Marquess of Queensberry from his marriage to Sibyl Montgomery. As his father's apparent marriage , he carried the courtesy title Viscount Drumlanrig .

He attended Harrow School and the Royal Military College Sandhurst . From 1887 to 1893 he served as a lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion of the Coldstream Guards . From 1892 he was secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs . On June 22, 1893 he was awarded the hereditary title of nobility Baron Kelhead , of Kelhead in the County of Dumfries , in the Peerage of the United Kingdom , which gave him a seat in the House of Lords while his father was still alive .

He died in a shooting accident in Wiltshire on October 19, 1894, at the age of 27 . Since he remained unmarried and childless, his title of nobility expired on his death. Since his father survived him, his title as Marquess of Queensberry finally fell in 1900 to Francis' younger brother Percy .
