Baron Setrington

Baron Setrington , of Setrington in the County of York , (also Settrington ) is a hereditary British title of nobility , bestowed twice by Letters patent in the Peerage of England .

Awards

For the first time the title was bestowed on October 6, 1613 by King James I together with the superordinate title Earl of Richmond to Ludovic Stewart, 2nd Duke of Lennox . This was already the 2nd Duke of Lennox along with subordinate titles and was also elevated to Duke of Richmond in 1623 . The titles expired on his death on February 16, 1624.

In the second award, the title was created on August 9, 1675 by King Charles II, together with the superordinate titles Duke of Richmond and Earl of March for his only three-year-old illegitimate son Charles Lennox . This was raised on September 9, 1675 in the Peerage of Scotland to Duke of Lennox and Earl of Darnley . Today, his descendant Charles Gordon-Lennox, 11th Duke of Richmond holds the title.
