Barry van Galen

Barry van Galen (born April 4, 1970 in Haarlem ) is a former Dutch football player .

Van Galen began his career as a professional player in 1991 in midfield of the Dutch first division club HFC Haarlem . From 1993 he was under contract with Roda Kerkrade in the honor division . After three seasons in Kerkrade, he moved to league rivals NAC Breda in 1996 . Since summer 1997 he has been playing for AZ Alkmaar .

On November 17, 2004 Van Galen was appointed to the Dutch national football team for the first time by national coach Marco van Basten for the Netherlands' World Cup qualifier against Andorra . At 34 years and 227 days, he was the oldest national team debutant in the history of Dutch football.
