Bartholomäus von der Leyen (* in the 16th century; † 1587 ) was cathedral dean in Trier and canon in Münster .

Life

Bartholomäus von der Leyen came from the Moselle noble family von der Leyen . He was the son of Bartholomew von der Leyen (1485-1540, kurkölnischer Council, Chancellor, steward and bailiff in Andernach) and his wife Catherine of Palandt (1490-1554). His brother Johann (1510–1567) was Archbishop and Elector of Trier , Michael was electoral Cologne and Electorate of Trier as well as canons of Münster and Georg canons in Trier and archdeacon in Trier and Karden. Bartholomäus received a cathedral canonical in Trier in 1532 . In 1541 he became the cathedral captain here and eight years later the cathedral scholaster . He was elected cathedral dean in 1567. On June 10, 1559 Bartholomew received on presentation of the canon Dietrich von der Recke the Dompräbende his brother Michael. He was also provost in Limburg Cathedral . Bishop Bernhard von Raesfeld gave him and the canons Wilhelm Ketteler and Gottfried von Raesfeld the power of attorney to represent them at the Augsburg Reichstag on March 18, 1566 . Bartholomäus was the owner of the Ladbergen Obedience . On August 1, 1582 , he renounced his benefice in favor of Lothar von Metternich.
