Bartolomé Bermejo

Bartolomé Bermejo (actually Bartolomé de Cárdenas * to 1430 in Córdoba (), † around? 1501 ) was a Spanish painter of the late Gothic period ; he is considered one of the main representatives of the Hispano-Flemish school .
life and work
Bermejo was trained in Flemish painting, such as the works of Jan van Eyck . His style is characterized by great realism and plastic representation of the figures. However, nothing more is known about his apprenticeship. His activity in Valencia is only documented from 1468 ; later he lived and worked in Zaragoza , Barcelona and Vich .
One of his expressive works is the Pietà by archdeacon Luis Desplá from 1490 in the Cathedral of Barcelona. The altar for the Church of Santo Domingo de Silos in Daroca remained unfinished .
