The Baruther Buschgraben is a right tributary of the Dahme in Brandenburg .
history
The ditch is of artificial origin and was created in the 19th century to clear the areas east of the town of Baruth / Mark for agriculture. These trenches were renewed and widened in the 1960s and 1970s. Southwest of the Dornswalde district of Baruth , a 10- hectare reservoir and a pumping station were built in 1978 in order to better regulate the water level in the Baruther glacial valley .
course
The trenches, some of which run parallel, initially drain an area south of the Baruth district of Radeland . The main ditch runs in a south-southeast direction over a length of around 6 km. In the further course, water flows further southeast from the Fischkütengraben to the north. Another inflow is in the Schindergraben, which drains the areas around the Baruth district of Glashütte . After another 5 km, the Baruther Hauptgraben flows into the Dahme at the Rietze residential area in the Rietzneuendorf district of the Rietzneuendorf-Staakow community .
development
A Natura 2000 management plan for the Glashütte / Mochheide area from 2013, in connection with the development of the area mentioned, also recommends measures for the further development of the Baruther Buschgraben, which a year earlier was partially classified as a habitat type . The plan recommends dismantling the three existing weirs - insofar as this is justifiable with the adjacent agricultural use - or replacing them with bottom sliders . Some drying pipes on Radeländer Weg should be laid to give the otter better access to the area. Ultimately, the bank vegetation should be promoted and the vegetation along the ditch improved.
