history
Rietzneuendorf, which was created through a fiefdom of the Burgrave of Golßen, was first mentioned in 1455 as Nuwendorf . The name describes a newly created village. The place name Rietzneuendorf was created to better distinguish it from other places with the name Neuendorf and is derived from the Rietze brook , which flows through the village. The place was and still is designed as a round village and at that time consisted only of the area of today's Schloßstraße.
At the time it was first mentioned, Rietzneuendorf belonged to the Golßen rulership and in 1757 came into the possession of the von Stutterheim family . In the following time the landlord changed several times.
In 1703 the half-timbered church was built in the village center . Between 1802 and 1804 it was extended to the west. In 1860, the then landlord had the castle built in Rietzneuendorf. In the years 1870 and 1871 another village green was laid out in Rietzneuendorf. The square was formed by planting an oak and a chestnut rondel as well as the village blacksmith and two restaurants .
The last landowner in Rietzneuendorf was expropriated for the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone from 1945 . From 1960 onwards, all farms were merged into an agricultural production cooperative. After the fall of the Wall , a dairy cattle facility was operated by a private agricultural cooperative in Rietzneuendorf . In 1993 the village church was restored. Most of the residents of Rietzneuendorf now work in Berlin or Cottbus.
After the Congress of Vienna , the formerly Saxon Rietzneuendorf came to the Kingdom of Prussia and was located in the district of Luckau in the administrative district of Frankfurt . On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the newly formed Lübben district in the Cottbus district . On January 1, 1974, the municipality of Rietzneuendorf merged with the neighboring Friedrichshof to form the municipality of Rietzneuendorf-Friedrichshof. After the reunification , Rietzneuendorf-Friedrichshof was in the Lübben district in Brandenburg . On October 26, 1992 the community joined the Unterspreewald office . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , the Rietzneuendorf-Friedrichshof finally came to the newly formed district of Dahme-Spreewald . On December 31, 2001, Rietzneuendorf-Friedrichshof merged with the Staakow community to form the new Rietzneuendorf-Staakow community. On January 1, 2013, the Unterspreewald office merged with the Golßener Land office , creating the Unterspreewald office .
