Prierow ( Lower Sorbian Pśěrow ) is part of the municipality of Golßen in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg . The place was incorporated on July 1, 1950.

location

Prierow is on the border of Lower Lusatia between the Lower Fläming and the Lusatian Heideland. The city of Lübben (Spreewald) is about 20 kilometers away. Surrounding towns are Friedrichshof and Rietzneuendorf in the northeast, the district of Waldow / Brand in the east, which belongs to the municipality of Schönwald , Gersdorf in the southeast, Zützen in the south, Golßen in the southwest and Klasdorf, which is already in the district of Teltow-Fläming , in the northwest.

The federal highway 115 runs through Prierow. The nature reserve of the same name is located north of Prierow . The Dahme flows through the place.

history

The name Prierow was first mentioned in 1265 with the personal name "Rudolfus Prerowe". The place was first named "Briraw" in 1461. The place name comes from the Sorbian language and means " drainage ditch ".

After the agreements of the Congress of Vienna Prierow came to the Kingdom of Prussia and was located in the district of Luckau in the administrative district of Frankfurt . On July 1, 1950, it was incorporated into Golßen together with Landwehr . On July 25, 1952, Prierow was assigned to the newly formed Luckau district in the Cottbus district . After the fall of the Wall , the community part was in the Luckau district in Brandenburg . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , Prierow was assigned to the newly formed district of Dahme-Spreewald .

On August 30, 1992 Prierow was attached to the Golßener Land office. This merged on January 1, 2013 with the Unterspreewald office . As a result, the Golßener Land office was dissolved and the villages were reclassified into the newly formed Unterspreewald office .
