Waldow / Brand is a district of the municipality of Schönwald in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg . Until it was merged with the Schönwalde municipality on December 31, 2001, Waldow / Brand was an independent municipality administered by the Unterspreewald office.

Waldow / Brand is located in Lower Lusatia, just under ten kilometers northeast of Golßen . Surrounding villages are of the community Rietzneuendorf-Staakow belonging district Staakow in the north, Schoenwald in the East, to the municipality Bersteland belonging districts Freienwalde and Reichwalde in the southeast, the Golßener vilage Gersdorf in the south and Prierow in the southwest and Rietzneuendorf in the northwest.
The district road 6147 runs through Waldow / Brand. South of the district of Waldow / Brand, the federal road 115 runs from Lübben to Jüterbog . Furthermore, the federal motorway 13 runs north of the locality, whose PWC system Bugkgraben is in the district of Waldow / Brand. The closest motorway junctions are Staakow and Freiwalde .
The Forsthaus Schenze residential area belongs to Waldow / Brand .
history
Waldow / Brand was founded by German settlers around 1200. In 1346 the place was first mentioned as Waldo . Waldow / Fire is the only place in the parish Waldow that the Silesian Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Oberlausitz belongs. The addition / brand serves to distinguish it from Waldow in the municipality of Spreewaldheide .
The village church in Waldow was probably built around 1709 as a half-timbered building. The church is listed as an architectural monument by the Brandenburg State Office for Monument Preservation .
After the Congress of Vienna Waldow / Brand came with the entire Lower Lusatia to the Kingdom of Prussia . On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the newly formed Lübben district in the Cottbus district . After the fall of the Wall , Waldow / Brand was in the Lübben district in Brandenburg . On October 26, 1992 the community joined the Unterspreewald office . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , Waldow / Brand finally came to the newly formed district of Dahme-Spreewald . On December 31, 2001, Waldow / Brand was incorporated into Schönwald .

Waldow / Brand is only nine kilometers from the Tropical Islands leisure park . The Spreewaldring Training Center is also located in Waldow / Brand . The cucumber cycle path leads through the village .
