Glashütte is a part of the municipality of Klasdorf (district of the city of Baruth / Mark ) in the district of Teltow-Fläming in Brandenburg , Germany.

geography

Glashütte is located around 45 kilometers from the southern border of the city of Berlin and around five kilometers southeast of Baruth in the lowland area of the Baruther glacial valley . The municipality part of the immediately neighboring Klasdorf has as other neighboring places, which are also districts of Baruth, (clockwise, starting from the northwest) Klein Ziescht , Radeland and Dornswalde as well as Rietz-Neuendorf ( Oder-Spree district ) and Golßen ( Dahme-Spreewald district ) .

history

In 1716, Friedrich Sigismund II, Count zu Solms-Baruth , set up the glassworks settlement Glashütte. At that time the settlement consisted of a few apartments for the workforce, a school, an inn, the forestry department and the gardens belonging to the residential buildings. Glass was still produced here until 1980. It is also worth mentioning that the inventor of the thermos bottle , Reinhold Burger , was born in Glashütte in 1866 .

On December 31, 2001, Glashütte was incorporated into the town of Baruth as part of the municipality of Klasdorf, along with Dornswalde, Paplitz , Petkus and Schöbendorf .

Baruther Glashütte museum village

Glashütte owns the museum village Glashütte as a landmark that is well-known beyond the official boundaries as a listed building monument in the state of Brandenburg .

All buildings in the village are under monument protection. The village is largely administered by the Glashütte eV museum association. In the village itself, tradespeople have settled, mostly doing old handicrafts.
