Lessen village church

Ließen is a district of the town of Baruth / Mark in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg , Germany.

geography

Ließen is around 50 kilometers from the southern border of the city of Berlin and around twelve kilometers southwest of Baruth, directly on the Golmberg , the highest point in the Lower Fläming . Neighboring towns of Ließen are (clockwise, starting from the north) Stülpe (district of the Nuthe-Urstromtal community ) and Petkus and Charlottenfelde (also districts of Baruth). Ließen is located on the L 70 state road between Trebbin and Dahme / Mark, which runs in a north-south direction .

history

In a court book of the city of Jüterbog , Ließen was first mentioned as Heyne lysen around 1325/1239 . Ließen belonged to the Archdiocese of Magdeburg and the Electorate of Brandenburg , to the rule of Zossen and until 1537 to the von Schlieben family . The von Rochow zu Stülpe family took over the village in 1648.

On December 31, 1999, the previous communities of Ließen, Merzdorf and Petkus merged to form a new community of Petkus.

On December 31, 2001, Petkus was again incorporated into the city of Baruth together with Dornswalde , Klasdorf , Paplitz and Schöbendorf .

Buildings, sights and traditions

In the center of the upper village is the Ließen village church , built in 1772 . It was placed on the foundations of the old church built in the Thirty Years War as a baroque plastered building .

The now 30 meter high village linden tree , which has a circumference of 5 meters, is a natural monument .

On the road from Stülpe to Ließen, the remains of a former railway embankment can still be seen in the 21st century . It comes from the time when the cities of Dahme / Mark and Luckenwalde were still connected by a small train . In 1964 this line was shut down. In the 21st century, the Teltow-Fläming district's cycle and skate path runs over the dam.

The town of Ließen is also known for its romantic forest pool (closed in 2018) and the youth hostel, which was built in the 1930s and is now used as such again .

The traditional association Hoher Golm , located in Ließen, has set itself the goal of ensuring that Ließen lives up to its reputation as a village of craftsmen, woodcutters and musicians . Numerous events are organized by this active association. The place is known for its traditional Christmas market. This has been taking place on the second weekend in Advent since 1996.
