Course of the road

The Barwon Highway is a trunk road in the southeast of the Australian state of Queensland . It connects the Leichhardt Highway (NA39) in Goondiwindi with the Carnarvon Highway (R46) in Nindigully , 44 km southeast of St. George .
The street got its name from the Barwon River , which flows in the same direction as it but continues south on the New South Wales border .
National road 85
The highway used to be part of the old National Route 85, which spanned the Gore Highway (NA39), the New England Highway (A3), the Esk Hampton Road (S85), the Brisbane Valley Highway (S85) and the D'Aguilar Highway ( S85) as far as Caboolture .
The highest point on the highway is at 236 m, the lowest at 181 m.
Cattle Drive Route
Like many Australian roads, the Barwon Highway follows an old cattle drive route. The street corridor is wider than that of other streets (up to 1,600 m). When looking at an aerial photo (or the satellite image from Google Maps ) you can clearly see the great width at the western end of the corridor (between Talwood and Nindigully) by the different colors for the acacia bush and for the adjacent agricultural areas.
