Basilio Haggiar
Basilio Haggiar BS also Basilios Hajjar (born January 6, 1839 in Gezzin , Syria , † 1919 ) was an archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Syria and Lebanon .
Life
Basilio Haggiar was appointed Bishop of Bosra in Syria on October 14, 1871 . He was ordained bishop on October 24, 1871, by the Melkite patriarch of Antioch, Gregory II. Jousself-Sajour ; Co-consecrator was the Bishop of Sidon Teodosio Kujamgi .
With the establishment of archeparchy Bosra and Hauran in 1881 he was appointed as Archbishop of Bosra and Hauran implemented . In 1887 he took over the Archbishopric of Sidon in Lebanon and died in 1919 after 47 years as a bishop. He was succeeded by Archbishop Nicolas Cadi in Bosra and Hauran and Atanasio Khoriaty in Sidon .
