Basketball academy

The Basketball Academy (BBA) is a program for regional basketball youth development for the Middle Neckar region . Under the umbrella of EnBW Ludwigsburg , the academy acts with numerous cooperation partners across clubs, both in a popular and competitive sport.

The pillars of the BBA

School program

After one year of cooperation with schools from Marbach , Ludwigsburg , Fellbach , Kornwestheim , Möglingen , Stuttgart , Remseck and other neighboring towns in Ludwigsburg, the BBA's school network continues to grow. The partner schools attend games and training sessions at EnBW Ludwigsburg. Head coach Tobit Schneider and professional players complete sports lessons and school camps at the partner schools. Sometimes the players also attend English lessons or bilingual classes. Basketball teams are an integral part of the cooperation. In addition, elementary school cups have already been established in the cities of Ludwigsburg and Remseck, which are held as the final tournaments of the basketball teams. The Bundesliga coaches act as coaches and give the children an extra boost in motivation. Primary school cups are also to be established in other cities in order to arouse pupils' interest in the sport of basketball at an early stage.

Partner clubs

The academy currently comprises seven clubs. With EnBW Ludwigsburg , Kirchheim Knights and BSG Ludwigsburg , the Beko Basketball Bundesliga covers the highest German leagues via ProA and the first regional league. The BBA partner clubs BG Tamm / Bietigheim, BG Remseck, TV Marbach and TSG Backnang are the basis for a regionally anchored youth concept. The overall goals are to increase the popularity of the sport of basketball across the board and to build a larger talent pool for the top. Joint tournaments and camps as well as the games of the NBBL team of the BBA at partner clubs are evidence of functioning partnerships. Group visits to the Bundesliga home games are also among the regular highlights of the basketball academy.

Promotion of elite sport

In addition to the U19 Bundesliga (NBBL), which has already existed for three years, a U16 youth division (JBBL) will be introduced for the 2009/10 season. After Ludwigsburg shared the NBBL license with the Tübingen youngsters last year , the basketball academy is sending both its own NBBL team and a JBBL team into the race for the German championship under the name BBA Ludwigsburg. In the senior sector, the promotion in teams of the BSG Ludwigsburg (Oberliga, Regionalliga) as well as in the ProA team of the Kirchheim Knights continues and ideally ends in the Bundesliga squad of EnBW Ludwigsburg. Another goal of the training is to generate squad players for the BBW and DBB. The national teams are currently focusing on the players Besnik Bekteshi, Jonathan Maier, Justin Konietzke, Philipp Heyden, Ziyed Chennoufi and David Mc Cray.

A number of young players are equipped with double licenses so that they can still play for their home club when they are younger, for example. The sporting, school and family conditions are taken into account accordingly for all talents. The athletic steps for the talents are planned and implemented together with the trainers from the respective partner clubs. Each case has to be considered individually, and family and school aspects are always included in the sports planning. This integrated concept is completed with the full-time boarding school opened in September 2009. Eight basketball players currently live in the boarding school and have the best infrastructure at the Bildungszentrum West location. In addition to the daily team training, a permanently installed, individually designed lunch training is part of the talent development.

Training

Under the organization of BBA head coach Tobit Schneider, in addition to the training of the players, the training of the trainers takes place. Pupils from the partner schools are trained as mentors and run basketball clubs. Teachers are trained and gradually made aware of the sport of basketball. There are workshops for trainers from the partner associations, as well as D-Trainer courses and C-Trainer courses. The know-how of the Bundesliga coaches at EnBW Ludwigsburg is used regularly for this purpose.

Social projects

In addition to the above-mentioned content, the BBA has made charity events and cooperations with social projects its task. In the spring of 2009, 120 students played a Bundesliga game and threw out a profit of 2,000 euros for children with cancer. The BBA is actively tackling the problems of violence and alcohol with joint campaigns with the projects “Tension under the basket” with the city of Stuttgart and “Basketball at midnight” with the city of Ludwigsburg and activities with other youth centers.
