Bathildis Marie Leopoldine Anna Auguste zu Schaumburg-Lippe (born May 21, 1873 in Ratiborschitz , Bohemia today in Czech: Ratibořice; † April 6, 1962 in Arolsen ) was a daughter of Prince Wilhelm zu Schaumburg-Lippe and the wife of Prince Friedrich von Waldeck and Pyrmont .

biography

Bathildis was on lock Ratibořice , the sixth child and second daughter of Prince Wilhelm of Schaumburg-Lippe (1834-1906) and Princess Bathildis of Anhalt-Dessau (1837-1902), the second daughter of Prince Friedrich August of Anhalt-Dessau born, .

She married on August 9, 1895 in Nachod Friedrich von Waldeck and Pyrmont (1865-1946) and moved with him to Arolsen Castle . The couple had four children:

  • Josias (1896–1967) ⚭ 1922 Altburg Duchess of Oldenburg
  • Max (1898–1981) ⚭ 1929 Gustava Countess von Platen Hallermund
  • Helene (1899–1948) ⚭ 1921 Hereditary Grand Duke Nikolaus von Oldenburg
  • Georg Wilhelm (1902–1971) ⚭ 1932 Ingeborg Countess von Platen Hallermund

In 1905, Bathildis founded an aid association for handicapped children on the initiative of her palace preacher Karl Knoll. This resulted in the Bathildisheim in Arolsen in 1912 . A street in Bad Pyrmont is named after her.
