Battista Monti

Battista Monti (born February 18, 1944 in Ponticelli di Imola , Italy ) is a former Italian road cyclist .

Monti was initially organized in the Pedale Ravennate cycling club in Ravenna , while as a student he was a member of the Ronchini sports group in Casalfiumanese . In 1965 Monti appeared in the result lists of numerous street races for amateurs with good placements. The third place at the amateur road world championships particularly stands out. In addition, Monti won a stage in the Tour de l'Avenir and several one-day races in Italy. For the 1966 cycling season, Monti moved to the professional paddock with a one-year contract with the Spanish cycling team Salvarani . One of his first professional races was the classic Milan – Sanremo on March 20, 1966, which he finished in 97th place among 123 drivers. 14 days later he achieved a better result at the Giro della Provincia di Reggio Calabria , which he finished in seventh place. From 1967 Monti drove for two years for the Italian team Germanvox-Wega. However, only a third place was known in the second stage of the 1967 Tour of Sardinia . After the unsuccessful year 1968, the contract with Germanvox was terminated without Monti joining another cycling team.
