List of apple varieties |
Baumann Renette is to rennet apples scoring varieties of culture apple .
Baumann's Renette shows numerous mutations. Thus saith Löschnig of three types (striped red, one color-faded-red, flush with asterisks), the striped red type was preferable. It is a diploid variety that flowers mid-early and is a good pollinator. However, satisfactory fruits can only be harvested with good care and good locations.
Lineage and Distribution
The apple was picked around 1800 by Jean-Baptiste van Mons in ( Leuven , Belgium ) as a seedling of unknown parents. The variety is very common. Mons named them after the nursery owners Gbr. Baumann ( Bollweiler , Alsace ), as Bertuch suspects in the first description in 1811.
In 1874 Baumanns Renette was recommended for cultivation by the German pomologists' association in Trier . Around 1910 it was added to the normal range of all Austrian crown lands with the exception of Dalmatia and Bukovina .
Expectations
For satisfactory harvests, sunny low mountain areas with a balanced water supply are ideal. The cultivation should take place at altitudes above 500 m. In addition, sufficient fresh, nutrient-rich soil is required.
Frost and scabs should be avoided as it is susceptible to wood frost (due to late shoot closure ) and scabs . It is also susceptible to fruit tree cancer , blood lice and aphids, and in the camp to camp scabs , peel tan and rot .
advantages
The early onset of yields and also high and even yields due to the low tendency to alternate are positive . The apple is not very sensitive to splashing, the flower is quite frost-hardy, and it hardly wilts in storage. In addition, it is not very sensitive to pressure and therefore easy to transport.
It is popular for its color, for example it used to be a classic "Christmas apple". It is ready for consumption in the period from mid-December to March.
disadvantage
However, Baumanns Renette cannot compete with more aromatic varieties in terms of taste. Small fruity occurs in unfavorable locations . He is also relatively prone to disease.
