Bawshar ( Arabic بوشر, DMG Baušar ) is one of the Wilayat of Gouvernements Muscat in the north-east of the Oman .

geography

The district borders the Wilayat Matrah in the east and the Wilayat Sib with Muscat Airport in the west . In the north, the Gulf of Oman forms the border with a long sandy beach of around 13 kilometers. From there, the area stretches to the southwest for around 20 kilometers inland, where the Hajjar Mountains rise.

There are several archaeological sites in Bawschar.

Population and structure

The population in 2003 was over 150,000. According to the 2010 census , the population of the Wilayat Bawschar was 192,235 people who lived in 43 villages and towns . The most significant of these are Al Khuwair , Sultan Qaboos City , Al Ghubra , Al Adheeba , Ghala , Al Sarooj , Bowsher Al Qadima , Al Ansab Sanab , Al Hamam , Al Awabi and Al Misfah .

Bawschar in the heart of the Muscat Capital Area has developed rapidly over the past few decades. Here you will find numerous shops, offices and hotels or important facilities such as the Sultan Qaboos Sports Center , the Royal Opera House Muscat or the Great Sultan Qaboos Mosque .

The Mall of Oman , the construction of which is currently beginning, is set to become the largest mall in Oman, larger than the Avenues Mall at Al Ghubra.

The Sultan Qaboos Street and the Muscat Expressway , major roads in the Capital Area, cross Bawschar parallel to the coast.
