Markus Krautberger (born October 14, 1976 in Graz ) is a former Austrian soccer player and sports journalist .

Career

Krautberger started his career at SK Sturm Graz . For the 1995/96 season he switched to the regional league team LUV Graz on a cooperation basis . In January 1996 he returned to Sturm. In the storm, however, he was not used for the professional team. In January 1998 he was awarded to the second division TSV Hartberg for half a year . He made his debut for Hartberg in the 2nd division in March 1998 when he was in the starting line-up against SV Stockerau on matchday 18 of the 1997/98 season . His first goal in the second division he scored in April 1998 in a 3-1 win against ASK Kottingbrunn . At the end of the season he had to relegate Hartberg to the regional league.

In January 1999, Krautberger Sturm left Graz again on loan and moved to the second division club FCN St. Pölten . For the Lower Austrians, he played 15 games in the second division and scored one goal. For the 1999/2000 season he finally left Graz and was bought out of his contract with Sturm by the second division club DSV Leoben . In his year and a half in Leoben, he completed 43 matches for the Styrians in the second division, in which he scored two goals.

In January 2001 he moved to SV Mattersburg . For the Burgenland, he completed 25 second division games until his departure in 2002, in which he remained without hits. For the 2002/03 season Krautberger joined the promoted Kapfenberger SV . For the Kapfenberger he completed 51 second division games in his two years with the club and scored two goals.

For the 2004/05 season he moved to the Bundesliga club Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz . He made his debut in the Bundesliga in July 2004 when he played against SK Rapid Wien on the first day of that season . Krautberger scored his only goal in the top division in May 2005 in a 2-1 defeat against SV Austria Salzburg . With Bregenz, however, he was relegated from the Bundesliga at the end of the season.

He then moved in the summer of 2005 to the regional division club FC Rot-Weiß Rankweil , for whom he completed 25 games in the Regionalliga West in the 2005/06 season. For the 2006/07 season he returned to the second division TSV Hartberg, for whom he had already played on loan in 1998. After half a year at Hartberg, he moved to the regional league team SC Eisenstadt in January 2007 . For the Burgenland he played 13 games in the Regionalliga Ost by the end of the season.

For the 2007/08 season Krautberger moved to Switzerland for FC Widnau . After half a year abroad, he returned to Austria during the winter break of that season and moved to the regional division SC Bregenz . For Bregenz he completed 25 regional league games.

In January 2009 he joined the fourth-class FC Mäder . For Mäder, he played ten games in the Vorarlberg League . After the end of the 2008/09 season he left the club. After a six-year break, Krautberger joined the seventh-class FC Schwarzenberg in 2015 , for which he played until 2016.

Journalist career

After his career as a professional soccer player, Krautberger became a sports journalist . From 2007 he wrote for Sport-Woche , from 2008 as a freelancer for Vorarlberger Nachrichten and from 2009 he also worked for Sky Sport Austria . In summer 2019 he switched to the Vorarlberger Nachrichten as an employee of Sky.
