The Bayerngas GmbH , based in Munich, is an energy trading -Unternehmen for joint natural gas procurement for municipal public utilities . In 2016, 122.2 billion kWh of natural gas were procured.
history
Bayerngas emerged from Bayerische Ferngasgesellschaft mbH , which was founded in 1962 by the Munich and Augsburg municipal utilities . After that, other municipal utilities (Regensburg, Landshut, Ingolstadt etc.) joined Bayerngas. In 2003, Ruhrgas and E.ON left Bayerngas's group of shareholders. The background to this was the conditions in connection with the takeover of Ruhrgas by E.ON.
Stadtwerke München took over the 7.6% shares of REWAG in 2013, increasing its share in the company from 48.7% to 56.3%.

Business areas
The Bayerngas GmbH for operation by 2012 a 1,300-km natural gas pipeline -Hochdruckleitungsnetz in southern Bavaria. As part of the unbundling of the federal government and the EU, this gas pipeline network with the associated fiber optic route network was transferred to bayernets , which is majority owned by Bayerngas.
Another subsidiary operates a large natural gas storage facility in the Wolfersberg district in the municipality of Oberpframmern approx. 20 km south-east of Munich .
Bayerngas has been 100 percent owner of the municipal natural gas procurement platform Novogate since 2013, which was renamed Bayerngas Vertrieb in 2014.
Natural gas fields in Norway
Bayerngas Norge AS was founded in Oslo in March 2006 to develop its own natural gas sources in Norway. The subsidiary is involved in 28 licenses with seven natural gas and oil regions in Norway and Denmark.
