The Bayer Nets GmbH , based in Munich, is a German company in the energy sector and operates under the network operator number 700,069 a transmission system for natural gas with a total length of 1,500 kilometers in southern Bavaria.

history

Bayernets was founded on January 1, 2007 by Bayerngas GmbH as its 100% subsidiary in order to meet the requirements associated with the liberalization of the gas market with regard to the separation of network operations and energy suppliers. The Federal Network Agency confirmed in 2012 its status as independent transmission system operator (UTB).

In order to realize further investments (e.g. the Monaco long-distance gas pipeline from Burghausen to Finsing ), a capital increase was necessary in spring 2017 through the participation of other shareholders. The "Monaco" (Italian for "Munich") was the largest management project in the company's history with around 200 million euros. It actually went into operation in December 2018 and officially on April 5, 2019. It brings up to 2 million m³ / h of natural gas, mainly from Russia, from the Austrian border near the Bavarian chemical triangle to the Munich metropolitan region and for onward transport to Northern Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. However, it can also transport gas in the opposite direction (reverse flow).

Shareholder

network

The company's network is concentrated on Upper Bavaria and Swabia with smaller shares in Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria . There are numerous network interconnection points to other transmission system operators - the focus here is on connections to the Open Grid Europe network and to MEGAL as well as to the Burghausen / Überackern border crossing point - and to the distribution network operators downstream.

Network structure data

The network operated has a total length of 1,500 km and is exclusively a high-pressure network (as of December 31, 2018). At the end of 2014, the network covered 1,333 km.

The table shows the proportions of the pipe diameter classes in the overall network:

Cable diameter class length proportion of
A (nominal diameter DN: x ≥ 1000 mm) 86 km 5.7%
B (nominal diameter DN: 700 mm ≤ x <1000 mm) 330.9 km 22.1%
C (nominal diameter DN: 500 mm ≤ x <700 mm) 364.3 km 24.3%
D (nominal diameter DN: 350 mm ≤ x <500 mm) 356.0 km 23.7%
E (nominal diameter DN: 200 mm ≤ x <350 mm) 322.9 km 21.5%
F (nominal diameter DN: 100 mm ≤ x <200 mm) 27.5 km 1.8%
G (nominal diameter DN: x <100 mm) 10.8 km 0.7%
total 1500 km 100%
