Bayswater is a district of the Australian metropolis Melbourne . It is located about 26 km east of the city center.

history

The first post office in the area opened in 1882 under the name Scoresby North . In 1889 a rail link to Melbourne was built. In the same year the post office was renamed Bayswater .

In the late 1940s, German immigrants from the Temple Society settled in Bayswater and neighboring Boronia . In 1951, the company bought 100 acres (about 40 hectares ) land, where he built a meetinghouse and a school. The Bayswater Temple Society still operates a retirement home and several settlements today.
