Pierre-Marie Joseph Carré (born April 22, 1947 in Serques , Pas-de-Calais , France ) is a French clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Montpellier .

Life

Pierre-Marie Carré was ordained a priest for the diocese of Agen on September 7, 1974 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Albi on July 13, 2000 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Toulouse , Émile Marcus PSS , on October 8 of the same year; Co - consecrators were Jean-Charles Descubes , Bishop of Agen, and Michel Pierre Marie Mouïsse , Auxiliary Bishop in Grenoble . As a motto he chose Servir et non pas être servi . On May 14, 2010 he was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Montpellier. With the resignation of Guy Thomazeau on June 3, 2011, he succeeded him as Archbishop of Montpellier.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him secretary of the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in 2012.
