Guy Thomazeau
Guy Marie Alexandre Thomazeau (born December 5, 1937 in Neuilly-sur-Seine , Hauts-de-Seine , France ) is Archbishop Emeritus of Montpellier and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Nice .
Life
Guy Thomazeau was ordained a priest on December 18, 1965 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Paris .
Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Chunavia and auxiliary bishop in Meaux on November 12, 1988 . The Bishop of Meaux, Louis Pierre Joseph Cornet , donated him episcopal ordination on January 8, 1989 ; Co- consecrators were Jean Cuminal , Bishop of Saint-Flour , and Michel Louis Coloni , Bishop of Dijon .
On September 14, 1994 he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Beauvais . After Adolphe-Maria Gustave Hardy retired , he succeeded him in the office of Bishop of Beauvais. On August 28, 2002, he was appointed Bishop of Montpellier. John Paul II elevated the diocese to an archbishopric on December 16, 2002, making Thomazeau the first archbishop of Montpellier.
Pope Benedict XVI On June 3, 2011, he accepted his resignation due to reasons of age. From August 8, 2013 to May 11, 2014, he was Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Nice.
