Beach City is a city in Chambers County in the US state of Texas in the United States of America .
geography
The city is located about 20 km north of the east-west US Highway 10 on Trinity Bay in southeast Texas, is about 50 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has a total area of 11.5 km² without any significant water surface. The place is about 55 km from Houston in the west and about 14 km southeast of Baytown .
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 1,645 people lived here in 623 households and 490 families. The population density was 143.0 inhabitants per km ². The racial population is composed of 95.62% White, 1.58% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 1.76% other ethnic groups. About 0.85% are descended from two or more races, and 4.74% of the population are Spanish or Latin American.
Of the 623 households, 35.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 70.5% of them were married couples living together. 6.1% were single mothers and 21.2% were non-families. 16.2% of all households were single households and there were people living in 6.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 2.97.
25.8% of the population were under 18 years old, 7.0% 18 to 24, 28.0% 25 to 44, 29.8% 45 to 64, and 9.4% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 103.8 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 102.5 men.
