Beach House is a US-American - French dream-pop - duo from Baltimore .

Band history

The French born singer Victoria Legrand , niece of the composer Michel Legrand , and the guitarist Alex Scally joined forces in 2005 under the name Beach House . They first drew attention to themselves on the Internet and they were featured on Pitchforks Infinite Mixtape with the song Apple Orchard . She signed the Carpark label and released her debut album in 2006, which bears the band name. The album was quite unsuccessful, however, only the second release Devotion brought it two years later in the US Heatseeker charts among the new discoveries at number 5. After a label change to Sub Pop , the breakthrough came with the third album Teen Dream in 2010. It reached the top 10 on the rock album charts and number 43 on the official Billboard 200 . Beach House was also successful in the UK charts .
