Beat Schmid

Beat Schmid (* 1940 in Zurich ) is a Swiss romance scholar and author of aphorisms and essays .

Career

Beat Schmid studied Romance studies and comparative literature at the University of Zurich . In 1968 he completed his studies with a dissertation on Félicité de Lamennais . From 1966 to 2000 Schmid taught French in Zurich as a high school teacher . He published two books with aphorisms, published essays and reviews on French literature and philosophy in various magazines and worked as a literary critic for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung .
