Beatrix Darmstädter

Beatrix Darmstädter (* 1972 in Vienna ) is a saxophonist , musicologist and, since 2004, curator of the collection of old musical instruments at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.

In addition to her artistic and scientific subjects, Darmstädter studied exhibition management in Vienna, Salzburg and Paris . She obtained degrees in the fields of saxophone classical (concert diploma 1993), musicology (Mag. Phil. 1994, Dr. phil. 1997), philosophy (Mag. Phil. 1993), and ECM (MAS 2006). In her dissertation, she dealt with the Utilissime musicales regule by Guillaume Guerson .

As a musician, she has worked in various orchestras and ensembles, under conductors such as Tiziano Duca, Peter Eötvös , Alfred Eschwé , Jacques Grimbert, Zoltán Kocsis , Andrés Orozco-Estrada and Andrija Pavlic. She is also active as a musician in the Ensemble Confluence , which she founded .

Darmstädter has lectured at the Prayner Conservatory in Vienna, the École d'orchestre Meru, the Institute for Musicology at the University of Vienna , the Főiskola Kecskemét and the Richard Wagner Conservatory .

Darmstädter published numerous scientific articles.
