Encounters on the border

Encounters on the border (French Rencontres à la frontière , Polish Spotkania na granicy ) are multicultural events that take place annually from May to November mainly in the Saar-Palatinate district with a focus on the Reinheim European Cultural Park . During the event period, events in the fields of visual arts , literature and music will be held with international artists from Germany , France and Poland .

The series of events is supported by the associations "Encounters on the border" ( Saarland ) and "Association des Amis du Parc Archéologique Européen Bliesbruck-Reinheim" ( Lorraine ) in cooperation with the community of Gersheim . Other co-organizers are the Saarpfalz district and the international ecological education center “ Spohns Haus ”. The cross-border tri-national cultural project was launched in 1996 by educators Gabi Schwartz and Hans Bollinger . Originally, Encounters on the Border was conceived as a bilateral German-French cultural project, but the German-Polish Youth Office was won as a further partner and the “Polish Cultural Circle” was included in the range of events.

Artists such as Hannes Wader , Konstantin Wecker , Klaus Hoffmann , Bettina Wegner , Ludwig Harig , Helmut Eisel , Georges Moustaki , Yves Duteil , Grzegorz Turnau , Andrcy Szczypiorski and Lukas Kramer have performed so far .

Encounters on the border are financed by entrance fees as well as financial donations from its sponsors and grants from the Saarland state government .
