action
Granger Woodruff works for an advertising agency. His life runs smoothly until someone hacks his credit card and spends just under $ 28,000. CityOne Bank gets in touch with him, and the pretty Jennifer David advises him on the phone. They both start talking, but Granger doesn't know who the lady on the other end of the line actually is. Her real name is Priya Sethi, she is 22 years old and lives in Mumbai , India .
Granger thinks Priya is nice on the phone and wants to meet her in San Francisco , where Priya, aka Jennifer, supposedly works. Priya, who is unhappily engaged to Vickram, agrees to the date after a moment's hesitation. She tells her parents that she would like to visit her aunt in America.
In America, Priya doesn't dare to identify herself as Jennifer. But after a clash with Granger, the first hurdle is overcome. Granger is so taken with the beautiful Indian that he immediately invites her to dinner. They spend more beautiful days - until Priya's parents also visit their relatives in America.
Soon the truth can no longer be covered up and Granger learns of Priya's engagement as well as her second identity, Jennifer David. Disappointed, he turns away and Priya returns with her family to their homeland. Nevertheless, she refuses to marry Vickram, for which her father finally shows understanding.
At his best friend Charlie's wedding reception, Granger realizes the mistake he has made during his best man's speech. He immediately sets off for the metropolis of Mumbai. In the call center he is reconciled with Priya and her father warmly welcomes Granger into the Indian family.
criticism
"Director James Dodson (" Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of Evil ") and his writer Tracey Jackson (" Confessions of a Shopaholic ") tell a sweet story with some good punchlines and some nice Indian-American obstacles. But above all, the cast proves to be a stroke of luck: Shriya, Jesse, Anupam & Co make sure that you have a pleasant conversation here. "
