German actors play in a film set in Germany and Rainer Wolffhardt directed , assisted by Theo Mezger . The original script by Frederick Knott was adapted by Helmut Pigge. The black and white film was produced by Südfunk Stuttgart and broadcast on ARD for the first time on February 21, 1959 .

Tony Wendice wants to get rid of his wife and have her killed. But Margot manages to kill the hired murderer out of self-defense. Now the husband's strategy aims to have her convicted of murder in court in order to get the inheritance. Inspector Hubbard, who already had a suspicion, managed to prevent this in a tricky way and to arrest him.
