Bekas ( Kurdish : orphans ) is a Kurdish film drama by director Karzan Kader from 2012. The film is about two war orphans who try to flee from Kurdistan (northern Iraq) to America during Saddam Hussein's rule .

action

The brothers Zana (6) and Dana (10) live as orphans in the Kurdish part of Iraq. While watching a Superman movie through a skylight , they decide to leave Saddam Hussein's country and go to America, the "city where Superman lives and can bring parents back to life". They try to earn money as a shoe shine, in the end they buy a donkey, which soon gets the name "Michael Jackson". They believe that you can be there after a short journey. They hang under trucks and come across a border. They pass another border in a trunk in a sack. When Dana steps on a land mine, he sends his brother to the next village to get help. However, it is hostilely rejected by all residents. The sun and heat are very bad for Dana, he asks his brother for forgiveness and jumps off the mine. The supposed land mine turns out to be a dud that does not detonate after a few noises. Dana runs into the village and after a short search finds it. He and his brother hug each other and cry with happiness.
