Belluscone - Why the Italians love Berlusconi (original title: Belluscone - una storia siciliana , Italian for "a Sicilian story") is an Italian documentary by the director Franco Maresco from 2014. It portrays the following of the politician and media mogul Silvio Berlusconi . After the film was released, Forza Italia , Berlusconi's party, tried to ban it in Italy, but to no avail. The cinema release in Germany was on April 23, 2015.

action

The film highlights “the relationship between the state and the Mafia in Italy, the eternal coexistence of politics and organized crime” (ttt - title thesen temperamente). In his documentary, Maresco tells of the special relationship between the former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Sicily. In Brancaccio, a district of the Sicilian capital Palermo, everyday life is determined by the bosses of the big mafia clans. Here one hand washes the other. Maresco's protagonist Ciccio Mira, a semi-silky music manager with Mafia connections, organizes the district's street parties. This is where the regular voters of Silvio Berlusconi gather. The musicians Ricciardi and Erik wrote a song especially for the "Cavaliere" ("I would like to get to know Berlusconi"). The enthusiasm for Berlusconi at the street festivals in Palermo is boundless, and Maresco makes it clear why that is so: He suspects that the "Cavaliere" has had ties to Sicilian clans for decades - and thus secured his votes in Sicily.

reception

The film service said that the “documentary immersion in the milieu of Berlusconi's electorate as well as interviews, film and television clips and photos” resulted in a “political-cultural essay of high entertainment value” that “illuminates the political culture of Italy” “Throw.
