Bellville is a village in Richland County in the US state of Ohio . It belongs to the Metropolitan Statistical Area Mansfield . At the 2000 census, the village had 1,773 inhabitants.
The village was named after the landowner Robert Bell.

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Bellville was inhabited by 1,773 people. The population density was 237.7 people per km ². There were 799 housing units at an average of 107.1 per km ². The population of Bellville was 98.82% White , 0.23% Black or African American , 0.11% Native American , 0.23% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 0.11% said to be of other races and 0.51% named two or more races. 0.90% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
