Belzheim is a district ( parish village ) and a district (former municipality) of the Bavarian municipality of Ehingen am Ries in the district of Donau-Ries ( Bavaria ).

The place is about two kilometers west of Ehingen am Ries.

history

To the southeast of the village there are around 170 burial mounds from the middle Hallstatt period . The first written mention was in 1053 as Villa Bellesheim . At that time the place belonged to the Counts of Hürnheim , who sold the property to the Teutonic Order in 1488 . From then on Belzheim was in the Deutschordensballei Franken until the beginning of the 19th century.

On May 1, 1978 Belzheim was incorporated into the municipality of Ehingen am Ries.

The former parish had an area of ​​701.21 hectares and, in addition to the parish village of Belzheim, also included the deserted Riedmühle and Weihermühle. At the last census on May 25, 1987, these three districts had a population of 329 in 74 buildings with living space or 77 apartments, of which the parish of Belzheim had 322 in 72 buildings with living space or 74 apartments.
