Ben Connor

Ben Connor is an Australian opera singer of the vocal range baritone .

Life

Connor completed his vocal studies at the Australian National University in 2009 , was a Harmony Endowment scholar and perfected his vocal technique from 2010 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Sebastian Vittucci and Uwe Theimer in Vienna. His current singing teacher is Carol Blaickner-Mayo . Connor was u. a. Winner of the National Eisteddfod Canberra and the Orange Eisteddfod competition, as well as Richard Wagner scholarship holder. In winter 2012 he was involved in the Schubert project - a winter hike at the Schauspielhaus Wien .

From 2012 to 2014 he was a member of the Young Ensemble of the Theater an der Wien . In the Dependance Wiener Kammeroper he sang several leading roles in these two seasons, including Marcello in Puccini's La Bohème , Dandini in Rossini's La Cenerentola and, with great success, the Amazonier in Kagel's Mare nostrum . In the main house he took on several smaller roles, including the Second Prisoner in Fidelio , staged by Herbert Föttinger and conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt , as well as Barone Douphol in La traviata , staged by Peter Konwitschny and conducted by Sian Edwards .

In August 2014 he sang Freddy in My Fair Lady at the Kufstein Operetta Summer . In the following season he can also be seen and heard in the same role at the Vienna Volksoper , to whose ensemble he now belongs. At this house he also sings Marcello in La Bohème , as well as smaller roles in Turandot and La traviata . His repertoire also includes the Comte d'Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro and the Fiorello in Barbiere di Siviglia .

Ben Connor regularly sings concerts in Austria, Estonia, Poland, Germany and Australia.
