Ben van Os

Ben van Os (born December 1, 1944 in The Hague ; † July 2, 2012 in Scheveningen , Netherlands ) was a Dutch production designer .

In 1983 he began working with Jan Roelfs , and two years later they began working closely with Peter Greenaway .

In 1990, Ben van Os and Roelfs received the European Film Award in the Best Production Design category for The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover . The following year, the two of them were awarded the specialist prize ( Vakprijz ) of the Golden Calf for the best performance as art director.

He was nominated for an Oscar (Art Decoration, Set Decoration) for Orlando in 1994 together with Jan Roelfs , and in 2004 for The Girl with a Pearl Earring .
