action

The six teenagers Johnny, Kitty, their friend Matt, his brother Simon, Zeke and Deb want to celebrate their graduation. To do this, they drive to a remote lake. When they are about to board a rowboat to cross the lake, an old man appears and warns them not to enter the water. It means to the youngsters that he knows Johnny and that Johnny should know about the dangers of not having respect for the lake; However, Johnny waves it away and the six start their boat tour. When Johnny wants to give Kitty his necklace before leaving because it would provide protection, she refuses.

As they row to the middle of the lake, they start drinking, making noise, and jumping into the water. They are suddenly attacked by a huge fish. You can barely escape into the boat, but lose an oar in the process. When Deb tries to fish this out of the water, the fish attacks again. He catches Deb's arm, causing her to bleed to death. Another attack by the monster also destroys the second rudder, and the boat is also damaged. The survivors quickly notice that they cannot make it to shore without oars if they do not succeed in distracting the giant fish. You decide to throw the dead Deb overboard. However, this only gives them a very short amount of time, and since they can only paddle with their hands, they don't really get any closer to the shore.

The group decides that someone else needs to be sacrificed. They choose Johnny because they hold him against the fact that he knew about the monster. He is thrown overboard, submerges and disappears from view. When the remaining four notice that the time gained is again insufficient, the mood on board the boat changes. Everyone tries to turn the other on against each other. Zeke, who filmed the group the whole time, is next sacrificed. While being pushed overboard, he accuses Kitty of cheating on Matt with his brother, which further exacerbates the mood on the boat. After Zeke's death, Johnny, who was able to save himself on the bank, suddenly appears in a motorboat. When trying to save the others, however, he is strangled by a rope and the motorboat is destroyed. In the increasingly escalating situation on the rowboat, Kitty is the next to be sacrificed and thrown into the water. A fight breaks out among the brothers who remain on board, with both falling into the water and being attacked by the giant fish. Matt sacrifices himself and Simon swims towards the bank.

Kitty, who was able to save herself on the overturned rowboat, recognizes the effects of Johnny's medallion and also reaches the bank, where she is killed by Simon in a rage. Suddenly the old man reappears. When Simon begs him to save him, however, he replies that he has found Zeke's camera and now knows that the young people have no respect for the lake. He wounds Simon and forces him back into the lake, where he falls victim to the monster fish.
