Benedetto Bonfigli

Benedetto Bonfigli (* around 1420 in Perugia ; † July 8, 1496 in Perugia) was an Umbrian painter .

Bonfigli, whose youth is unknown, was commissioned in 1454 to decorate the Cappella dei Priori in Perugia with frescoes depicting scenes from the life of St. Louis and St. Herculan. After completion, Fra Filippo Lippi praised his work in a report.

From 1464 to 1468 he worked on a triptych , Mary and four saints, in Perugia.

Together with Bartolomeo Caporali , he painted some of the many flag images to implore the Madonna's help against the plague .
