Benedikt Zuckermann

Benedikt Zuckermann (also: Benedict Zuckermann ; born October 9, 1818 in Breslau ; died December 17, 1891 there ) was a German Jewish scholar, librarian and teacher of mathematics , natural sciences and astronomy .

Life

He received his doctorate from Kiel University and taught at the rabbinical seminary in Breslau and previously since 1854 at the Jewish-theological seminary in Breslau . From 1857 he also managed the seminar library there, whose holdings he documented in the 1870 catalog. Zuckermann published several authoritative writings on calendar issues , mathematics in the Talmud and coinage in the Talmud. His lifestyle is said to have been strictly orthodox .
