The Benedictine Abbey Jouques is a monastery of the Benedictine nuns in Jouques in Arrondissement of Aix-en-Provence , Bouches-du-Rhône in France and founded the 1967th

history

Founded in 1816 by Louise-Adélaïde de Bourbon-Condé in Paris , the Benedictines of the Blessed Sacrement ( Bénédictines du Saint Sacrement ), who had been based in Vauhallan (Saint-Louis-du-Temple de Limon-Vauhallan Abbey ) since 1951 , founded halfway in 1967 between Aix-en-Provence and Manosque near Jouques on a plateau above the Durance the daughter monastery Notre Dame de Fidélité (Maria Treue), whose church was consecrated in 1969. In 1970 a novitiate was established. In 1981 the monastery was elevated to an abbey . The subsidiaries Notre-Dame de Miséricorde (Maria Mercy) in Rosans in the Hautes-Alpes department (1991) and Notre-Dame de l'Écoute (Maria Hörerin) in Natitingou in Benin (2005) were founded. The abbey currently houses 45 sisters.

The documentary Leur souffle by Cécile Besnault and Ivan Marchika (2018) is about the Jouques Convention.
