CI Acid Red 94 is a chemical compound from the group of triphenylmethane dyes and xanthene dyes .
The dye is used, among other things, in the rose bengal test, in which the administered compound is eliminated unchanged by the liver and excreted in the bile. The excretory capacity of the liver can then be quantified on the basis of the elimination rate.
Acid Red 94 can also be used to test for the presence of Brucellae .
structure
Depending on the pH value , the dye is available in the uncharged spiro- lactone form or as a mono-, di- or trisodium salt. The disodium salt of the compound can be formulated as a lactone or as a carboxylate .
