Benjamin Dietrich
Benjamin Dietrich (born October 3, 1910 in Dresden ; † May 29, 1981 in Cologne ) was a German party functionary of the GDR block party NDPD and a journalist .
Life
Dietrich became a member of the NSDAP in 1930 . He also joined the SA and became a senior SA leader. In Saxony he co-founded the Nazi newspaper Der Freiheitskampf .
After the Second World War, Dietrich became a member of the NDP (later renamed the NDPD).
In the GDR he was editor-in-chief of the Saxon Latest News from 1952 to 1955 . He then moved to Berlin as a department head in the editorial team of the NDPD - the central organ National-Zeitung . He was a member of the journalists' association in the GDR and temporarily its deputy chairman in Berlin.
Dietrich received the GDR's Medal of Merit in 1961 and was a member of the NDPD party executive from 1968.
