Benjamin Gottfried Weinart (theologian)

Benjamin Gottfried Weinart (born February 20, 1715 in Schönwalde near Sorau , reign of Sorau , Niederlausitz, † March 7, 1795 in Dohna ) was a Saxon Protestant pastor .

The son of pastor Gottfried Weinart attended the Sorau city ​​school and Bautzen grammar school before studying theology in Wittenberg . After he had obtained his master's degree in 1741 , he accepted a position as private tutor in Upper Lusatia. In 1746 he was appointed substitute at the Dohna Church. In 1750 he was promoted to deacon , in 1760 to archdeacon and in 1765 to pastor .

In 1751 he and his wife Christiane Johanna born. Krause in Dohna gave birth to their son Benjamin Gottfried Weinart , who, in addition to his profession as a lawyer and financial procurator, was to become a well-known historian and bibliographer . Other sons were the doctor and pharmacist Christian Gottlieb Weinart (* August 2, 1754 in Dohna; † August 23, 1834 in Frankenberg ) and Christian Ernst Weinart (* 1758), who died as a surgeon on a Dutch ship in 1786/87.
